ABOUT RIVERS BISTRO: The name “ Rivers ” originated from the following theme:
In 1927, the Canberra National Memorials Committee in a report to the parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia on the naming of Canberra streets and suburbs proposed that street names in Canberra suburbs follow a theme.
This structure has been followed to this day and is one of the oldest policies in the ACT.
The theme for the suburb of Kaleen is Australian Rivers. The word "Kaleen" comes from the language of the Wiradhuri Tribe of the central-west of New South Wales, meaning ‘Water’. Gazetted 15 January 1974
